South Space Building Design is a small studio that works with people to design sympathetic spaces in the built environment. We mainly work within the Illawarra and surrounding Sydney areas, but are also interested in working anywhere within NSW.

We’re all about creating spaces that are not just good-looking but also super practical and tailored to the specific needs of each project. A blend of functionality, context, and simplicity.

We relish in problem-solving and love getting creative with every project. Each time we get a new challenge, we dive in with curiosity and work through innovative solutions to hit the brief.

Meet the Principal Designer

Jarryd Harding is the director and principal designer at South Space, bringing over 14 years of experience in the building and design industry. With a strong background in residential and commercial projects, Jarryd has acquired detailed technical knowledge and extensive experience from his previous roles at established architecture firms in Sydney and London. His expertise is further enriched by the lessons learned from his own client projects over the years.

As the founder of South Space Building Design Studio, Jarryd works directly with clients, both individuals and businesses, on the spaces that hold the utmost importance to them. This venture is not only a natural progression in his career but also a true calling. Jarryd’s dedication to creating exceptional spaces is evident in his collaborative approach, where he understands and appreciates the unique needs and aspirations of each client.

We engaged Jarryd for a granny flat and house extension and although we did not end up doing to work we could not have been more pleased with Jarryd at South Space Building Design. Jarryd listened first and foremost, he heard what we said and put plans together that reflected what we said however in addition to that he added a second or third design as examples of what else was possible and how other designs reflect on the space. This allowed us to work not just in the vacuum of what we thought we wanted but brought a perspective that allowed us to be super confident when we did move forward to specific plans.
